Member Services Council presenting their recent projects and activities

On September 7, 2002, the FY '03 (Oct. 1, 2002 - Sept. 30, 2003) Leadership met in Portland, OR. This group of individuals (Governing Board members, Council and Committee Chairs) gathered to become better oriented with EWRI operations and goals. The workshop was designed to showcase unique council/committee projects and achievements, and attendees engaged in an energetic dialogue with their peers. Participants discussed strategies to build the Institute and creative ways to achieve its goals. Updates on the FY '02 Reno Leadership Workshop ideas and action items were also provided throughout the numerous council and committee presentations.

New Council/Committee Chairs were encouraged to ask questions and take advantage of the strong leadership that has been a part of EWRI since its inception in 1999. The workshop attendees learned of the announcement of a new membership drive lead by the Membership Development and Retention Council. Continued product development and improved communication are also on the horizon for EWRI. Another focus for future development is working more with ASCE Section & Branches. The Section & Branch Activities Council has begun making progress in this effort and will continue to do so through its upcoming presentation at the Council of Presidents' Meeting at the ASCE Annual Conference in November. All councils and committees requested "new blood" and all EWRI members are encouraged to become more active and really take advantage of their EWRI membership by joining a council or committee. If you have expertise, experience or interest in any of EWRI numerous councils and committees please feel free to send to your inquiry to EWRI@asce.org and staff will pass your interest onto the appropriate chair to contact you. EWRI looks forward to another successful and productive year through your continued support and contributions.
