Welcome to all new members of the rejuvenated Air Quality
Committee of the Environmental Multi-Media Council. We still
need additional members, so won't you join us? The Committee is
working toward publishing new literature and conducting
seminars/conferences on several hot topics of air quality. As air quality
experts know, the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 brought
significant changes in how we deal with air pollution and meet the
national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS).
To give you a good idea of the potential areas of participation, the
following are some possible topics of interest: evaluation of air
regulations, such as new source performance standards (NSPS),
maximum achievable control technology (MACT) rules, Title V and
other air permitting, new source review (NSR), and prevention of
significant deterioration (PSD); air contaminant source evaluation;
emission testing technologies; fate of air contaminants; control
technologies; emission inventories; and air modeling. In addition,
evaluations of the permits, compliance, and enforcement action are
important in successful operation of industrial and municipal
facilities. Your participation is also welcome on indoor air quality
issues.
We look forward to having an active working committee and a strong
group of members beginning this year. The anticipated outcome of
this group is to prepare a book/publication containing individual
chapters about critical air quality issues, and to work toward
conducting a one or three-day seminar in the future, depending on
input of the members.
If interested, please contact S. Rao Chitikela at
rchitikela@contactpsc.com with your interest to become a member
and your ideas/views for the committee. Thank you.
