After reviewing several nominations, the
Nominating Committee recommended and
the Governing Board agreed that Jeanette
Ann Brown, P.E., DEE, F.ASCE, become the
EWRI Governing Board Official Nominee for
the 2004 position of EWRI Vice President.
The position on the Board would start on
October 1, 2004 and 2005 respectively. Currently, Jeanette serves
as the ASCE Presidential Appointee to the
EWRI Governing Board. Jeanette has been a driving force
in the field of environmental engineering for
over thirty years since receiving her
Bachelor’s from University of Maryland and
her Masters from Manhattan College. She
currently serves as the Executive Director of
the Stamford Water Pollution Control
Authority where she is responsible for the
operation and main-tenance of a 20 MGD
advanced wastewater treatment plant, 25
pumping stations, and 275 miles of sanitary
sewers and is currently managing the $105M
upgrade of the Stamford Wastewater
Treatment Plant. Jeanette also serves as an
adjunct professor of environmental
engineering at Manhattan College.
Jeanette has shared her wealth of
knowledge in the environmental engineering
field not only through her professional work
but in her service with multiple engineering
organizations. Currently, she is President of
the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, Chair of
the Water Environment Federation Security Project, Chair of
the Workgroup to Develop Security Guidance Documents for
Water and Wastewater Infrastructure as well as a member of the
National Water Policy Board.
As a Fellow in ASCE and EWRI, Jeanette has been an active
member of our organization for several years and currently holds
several leadership positions. Jeanette chairs the Wastewater
Subcommittee of the Water Infrastructure Security
Enhancement Standards Committee of EWRI, has been an
active member in Member Services EXCOM, in addition to her
current role as ASCE Presidential appointee to the EWRI
Governing Board. Jeanette feels that EWRI is well on its way to
being the strongest institute within ASCE and feels that through
the strengthening of some of the technical councils at the core
of EWRI, re-evaluating our membership information delivery
methods in addition to focusing on annual congresses, this goal
can be achieved.
