November 4, 2002 The WISE SC (Water Infrastructure Security Enhancement
Standards Committee) met in Washington, D.C. on the Monday of the 150th
Anniversary meeting.
Basil Steele with ASIS and Sandia National Labs conducted a workshop on
Sandias Risk Assessment Methodology for Water (RAM-W).
Items discussed: - A proposal for $1.5 million per year for 3 years to be sent to EPA.
- EWRI will discuss with WEF and AWWA the procedure for modifying those
publications that WISE SC wants to alter.
- Three subcommittees were established the Wastewater Stormwater
Subcommittee, the Methodology & Characteristics Subcommittee, and the
Water Suppy Subcommittee.
- The WISE SCs publications will be directed toward malevolent acts.
- Representatives from the City of Seattle will be invited to attend the next WISE
SC meeting to discuss the problems they had implementing RAM-W1 (Risk
Assessment Methodology) and RAM-W2.
The next WISE SC meeting will be in Philadelphia on June 22, 2003. For more
