Water Resources Professionals Gather to Discuss and Promote the Forum

On May 12, 2008, water resources professionals from around the world will congregate at EWRI’s World Environmental & Water Resources Congress 2008 to take part in an International Symposium pertaining to the 5th World Water Forum (March 16-22, 2009; Istanbul, Turkey).

Prominent World Water Council (WWC), 5th World Water Forum (WWF5) organizers, and EWRI-ASCE members will participate in panel discussions focusing on:

  • An overview of the World Water Council (WWC) and 5th World Water Forum.
  • How U.S. “National Water Policy Dialogues” might be offered as an approach in developing national water policy.
  • How to become involved in the World Water Forum

Invited significant panelists include:

  • ASCE President David G. Mongan, P.E., F.ASCE
  • WWC President Loïc FAUCHON
  • WWC Vice-President Benedito Braga
  • WWC Board Member Roberto Olivares
  • WWC Board Member Paul Reiter
  • L. Leonard Wolner of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

The event will take place from 3:00-6:00 PM for the EWRI 2008 Congress at the conference's location, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Convention Center.

The Symposium provides an opportunity for Congress attendees to learn about the 5th World Water Forum, as well as garner opinions on the state of global water policy from prominent WWC and EWRI-ASCE members. This event also allows EWRI, as a member of the WWC, to support WWF5 and promote their involvement with the Council and the Forum.
